Born in Pesaro in 1989, Melissa moved to Florence (Italy) at an early age to begin her professional training in Ballet at the Accademia Internazionale Coreutica under the direction of Elisabetta Hertel and eventually decided to further her training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds (UK), from where she graduated in 2011 with a First Class Honours Degree, winning the Award for Outsanding Achievement. After graduation, Melissa worked with numerous international choreographers like Akram Khan, Andonis Foniadakis, Aakash Odedra, Nicolas Cantillon and Laurence Yadi, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Barak Marshall, İhsan Rüstem, Michael Popper, Bruno Caverna and Beyhan Murphy amongst others, performing both new creations and repertoire works with Companhia Instàvel (Portugal), LamatDance Company (Spain), James Wilton Dance Company (UK) and with the Turkish National Company Modern Dance Theatre Istanbul (MDTIstanbul) touring worldwide. In 2017 she begins to collaborate with fellow dancer Evrim Akyay for One by One and Tak, presented as part of the 2017 Moving Visagrad Festival. Beside sharing her practice through workshops in Italy, UK, Turkey, Iran and India, Melissa is currently a member of Aakash Odedra Company (UK) and of Compagnie 7273 (Switzerland) and in summer 2019 she was appointed Assistant Choreographer for the Macerata Opera Festival 2019. She is also been collaborating with the Italian cellist Jacopo Mariotti for the creations 101 and Shut your eye. At the moment Melissa is taking part to Anouk Van Dijk's and Falk Richter's new creation Touch at the Münchner Kammerspiele. In 2012 Melissa also performed at the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games with the Akram Khan Company.
