bio

Born in Italy in 1989, Melissa graduated from the

Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds (UK), being granted an Award for Outstanding Achievement.

After graduation, Melissa worked as a freelancer with numerous international choreographers and directors like Anouk Van Dijk, Falk Richter and Akram Khan. In 2013 she joined the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet, touring worldwide for many years.
In 2017 Melissa moved back to Europe and started a long-term collaboration with the performer and choreographer Aakash Odedra, becoming Co-Artistic Director of his Company in 2020.
Melissa is currently based in Berlin and shares her practice through workshops in Italy, UK, Turkey, Iran and India, whilst collaborating creatively with several fellow artists and being a member of the Münchner Kammerspiele (DE), Aakash Odedra Company (UK), Cie7273 (CH) and Art of Spectra (SW).

Melissa firmly believes in the substantial role of movement practice in everyday life, therefore her artistic development is shaped on the fundamental idea that dance enables true, unfiltered communication and connection between people.
In her practice, Melissa draws inspiration from every body's relationship with the space around it, not just a dancing body.
